God said, “ENOUGH!” The Holy Spirit pressed me to answer this question, “What does it mean to call yourself a daughter of God?” Yeah, Denise, what is that supposed to mean?

Intellectually I understood who Jesus was. He was God on earth, born to a virgin, and died for my sins. Jesus rose from the dead and will return to earth someday. The ticket into heaven was His grace, not my good works.

This belief in the facts did not change my heart. Acceptance and fitting in were important. Relationships were developed based on who could help my sons gain entrance into the best schools and advance their career options. Their lives would look different than mine. I was a hot mess living by the world’s standards of right and wrong.

Now, Jesus demanded I look at myself. If He owned my heart, if I revered Him, how would it be reflected in my daily life?

Why did I allow folks to wield power in my life decisions? They clearly were not His people. My chosen path granted Satan access to my mind, heart, and soul.

We belong to Jesus. No one can snatch us from the Master’s hand. Our names are written in the Book of Life. Because Jesus knows us, He desires everything. Everything. He wants us to surrender our souls, minds, and hearts.

Matthew 7:21-23 (ESV) “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.”

A few things to ponder:  Are you deliberate when deciding what you allow to feed your soul? What do you watch, and listen to? What places do you go? What are your entertainment choices? The Holy Spirit watches TV and social media with you. He is with us when we seek counsel from the world rather than Him. Pray for His guidance. Change one thing today.

Father, thank you for the perfect road map, your Holy Bible. Satan wants us overwhelmed with where to make life changes. He wants us to minimize our role as your daughter. You died to set us free. We submit to you on bent knees, asking for your will in our lives. Help us to choose one thing that we change forever. And then, another. Thank you for your goodness and mercy.

In Jesus name, Amen
